Re: Hunting for a Hot Hatch!

I've decided I'm gonna go Renault Hunting.

Theres a couple of Trophies I'm gonna go look at over the next week or so and I have also booked myself a test drive of the new Clio Cup as well, so stay off Hertfordshire roads next weekend ^^

No, it wont be fast as **** at all. It's a sporty diesel car with a TDI 130 engine. Lets not get ahead of ourselves yet, it's merely reasonably nippy. It is not a hot hatch.

What you need is something French, becuase although French cars rattle and bits fall off, the French rock at hot hatches. Peugeot used to but they've forgotton how to do it now, so it's just Renault - but a nice Clio 182 should really be top of your list. Great cars.

Re: Hunting for a Hot Hatch!

yeah fast as **** is a bit strong. Lots of lazy torque.. changing gear at 4000prm.. sounds like a hoot!

When chipped im sure they are reasonably fast in a straight line but nothing exciting.

I'd have one if i were on the motorway a lot..

Re: Hunting for a Hot Hatch!

Get yourself a Megane 225 Cup (not standard chassis). Brilliant cars for the money, and can be had around £11k for one still in warranty.

Ive had mine now for nearly 3 months and apart from the running costs (two new tyres ouch) its excellent Had it to one of the shows, and it certainly turns heads!

When I bought it it was mapped to 270bhp (stupid garage didnt realise) and it was even quicker! So much torque from 2500rpm, but it was a bugger to drive in traffic LOL Id reckon with the map it was more like 5.5sec!

Had that removed now though, garages mistake (I wasnt a happy bunny to say the least)

To be fair theres a good 5k in between mint examples of both if not more, but a 182 isnt a patch on it in looks for me, 182 is common, And the v6 would sound awesome..

Not really a shopping/ Many people car the V6 though, not unless your friends like their buttocks toasted by the engine.
