Quick question re: hpi check

Lo folks,

Rather stupidly, I never had a HPI check done when I bought my car back in August. After owning it for 5 months I think it may have had a backender in its time. I've noticed things like small welds under the boot carpet, and a respray on the bootlid.

Now on to my question; before I shell out £35 on a hpi check, can I not just presume that my insurers (Norwich union), would have declined me insurance if it was on say catD. (obviously I gave them reg number to get insured)

an hpi check wont nessesarily show up if yer cars been crashed - only if it was written off - so the insurance might have cleared it but its still had a crash

or... take it to your local fuzz shop, who'll hpi it for free (but not provide any paperwork to back it up)

Theres a webby that if u SMS them, they HPI check it for you, and then text you back with the all clear..
