I seem to recall some of the older Carltons had heated washer jet nossles. Can you find me a price and part number old chap? Fancy some funky winter friendly modding :)

Kewl idea, if u find them I'll have some too :D
thats goota be an easy mod... just get some form of jacket over a hotpipe and route the nozzles through it ?
Nah, they were electrically heated - You can get a small chamber that you whack over a coolant pipe, but if you've no water pipes near the washers, the water has cooled down before it hits the screen.
trust me...they are a BAD IDEA :(
Ya see.....the water in them BOILS.....and the chalk deposit turns them into useless junk in days :(
BMW used them too......
the only way to get them to workis to have a set of pipes that allow water to drain BACK DOWN to the bottle whenever the motor isn't active....so the water aint in the nozzle hole.
I often wondered why exhaust heat (from the manifold) wasn't piped up to the pipes my self :(
Hmmm time for plan B:
Take a small reservoir (coke can), wrap it in copper brake pipe and plumb it into coolant system. Then feed washer fluid into reservoir.
Or plan C:
Insert serveral glowplugs in to Washer bottle, Create toasty washer bottle :)
Just realised the reason they were good up north then - We had PROPER water! :D :D
use distilled water for it and you'll be fine :)
Or put a resistor in the supply down to 9v, so it doesn't boil but warms gently?
one solution that might work is - extend one of the water pipes in your car - say the one leading from the radiator to the engine, or better still from the engine to the heater matrix. then route this pipe thru the washer bottle. this will lead to the washer bottle warming up quite a lot (but not more than boiling point probably) and better cooling for yer car! simple :)
