Why inexperienced kids shouldnt drive 500hp cars

Hey all,

After reading this from another forum, its a chilling read and really hits home about driving safely.

To cut a long story short, an 18yr old guy from Florida joins this forum to talk about his M5 and shifting problems. He even comments on his lack of experience, and gets a bit wound up when everyone is having a go at him for being 18 and owning such a powerful car. If you read it through, its quite eerie and chilling.

Hope this puts any budding boy racers with extremely fast cars off dangerous and risky driving.

I saw this posted on another Forum and goodness me, it sent shivers up my spine seeing the state of the Car ( what was left ) in the pictures that were linked in that thread

At least he had the sense not to do it on the road could of been a lot worse.

Yeh i think they should restrict the amount of power a person can handle on years of experience and how old you are like they do with motorbikes. I forgot what the restrictions are for motorbikes but it think its something like if your under 17 you cant have anything above 125cc and you cant ride a full powered bike till you reach 21.

Damn thats nasty, I remember when I first drove my very first car (that I owned), which had a 'measly' 130bhp....jeez I nearly killed myself a couple of times until I learned to alter my driving habits massively - i learnt to drive in a corsa with a 1l engine.....
Im guessing this kid had next to no experience of anything nearly so powerfull as an m5....

At 18 your allowed to ride any bike as long as its restricted to 33bhp. There's an 18/19 year old lad in blackpool driving round in a brand new Evo Mr! He had a Fiesta St which he trashed. Stupid parents

Yeah, there should be restrictions. Tbh im hardly an ambassador of that as im 24 and have had my license 4 years, and only really started driving the last 2 years. Since then Ive gone from a Corsa to a 150Bhp Ibiza to a 225bhp Megane 225. However, I do take care and drive safely. Its other idiots on the roads I see every day that I would call a danger

Chilling read. I remember when I was 18 and thought I could drive better than anyone (as many of us think at that age). Thankfully I could not afford a 500BHp car!

Was it ever established that it was the kid who originally posted?

I've always said the it doesn't make sense for new drivers not to be restricted. The motorbike limits are perfectly sensible and it seems ridiculous that a 17 year old could pass his test and go straight out and buy a 200mph+ supercar if he could afford it.

I daresay he thought he wasn't in any great danger thrashing the car on a wide open airstrip with nothing to hit. It's just a shame the airstrip wasn't quite as wide open as he thought.

Yeah it was him, this guys name was Josh from Florida and if you read the news excerpt it does indeed say his name.
