what you could so is go in search of mud and gravel, cover up the new tyre in dirt so the rubber isnt in cintact with the road
xtr if the rear ends going squirmish under hard cornering then take it into a carpark and enjoy it
you'll learn how to control slides, and at the same time the skidding about will help the tyres break in super-fast..

As well as referring to your Haynes manual for pressures most cars have the required details on a label on the frame of the drivers door.
The recommendations made reflect the weight distribution in your car. Mine for instance is fwd and recommends 32psi front and 30psi rear. The greatest weight is at the front of the car so I'd expect a requirement for greater pressure.
However above 160km/h (100mph) this changes to 34psi front and 37psi in the rear. I'd guess this is to stiffen the side-walls of the tyre under the higher loads experienced at speed and prevent the chance of the tyre being ripped of the rim!
I suggest you stick with the recommended pressure, especially as it all seems sorted now. Enjoy it!

Always stick to the recommended pressures, this ensures the tyre has a maximum contact patch on the road and doesn't heat up to much, thereby making it unsafe.

It is important to check this properly as my car wants 30psi in the fronts and 32 in the rear and mine is still a FWD car.

It all depends on the weight distribution of the car. Mines 28 front and rear I think.

not so, my rears are meant to be quite a bit higher than my fronts, yet i have a front engined rwd car.

It is common though not aways the case that the driven wheels have a higher or equal pressure to the non-driven wheels. TiG's Octavia the obvious exception here
