    Car Handling...

I've just changed the rear 2 tyres on my car.... taken 2 worn pirelli p6000's off and put 2 brand new hankook 406 tyres on.

But now.... the car seems to be wallowing about the road. When braking the backend of the car seems to be all over the place. I've done about 20 miles on these tyres so far... I've checked the tyre pressures. they have 30.5psi in. I'll give it a week or 2 and if its still the same im going back to tyrespot where i bought them for them to check it out. I'm not happy at the moment... It's quite scary to drive

New tyres take a little while to break in, they have a coating of slippery release agent when they arrive, from when they came out of the mould. They'll be expecially bad in the wet! Hopefully they should improve once you've got a bit of wear into them.

I wouldn't hold out on Hankooks, they're generally regarded as being pretty s***.

True. Hopefully the worst of it then is the resin, as mentioned. I'd double check the pressures though... 30.5 sounds a bit low. I'd have thought they'd be more like 33-34?

sorry but I'm just trying to understand this, the tyres are on the back and its giving you bad handling, not quite sure I follow that.

Someone care to explain why XTR is experiencing this kind of effect with tyres on the back like this?

According to my haynes manual i should have 32psi in the front and 29 in the rear for normal use....

If the car had a Full load then it should be 33psi in the front and 32 in the rear.

I'm generally always in the car by myself so i guess what its set to is ok ish... 33 in the fronts and 30 in the rears....

The front tyres still have a good few mm of tread on... the new tyres are on the back.

It doesnt feel safe to drive

The tyre wear looks uneven on that front tyre chap.. looks like it's wearing the outside a lot more than the inner, or is that just the photo?

naa tyres'll still have a bit of release agent on em from the moulding process.. scrub em in a bit more and they should "stickyfy".. plus I'd put a couple of pounds more in the backs mate - the VW polo states 32 all round, but works far far better with 36 in the back..

that tyre was on the front of the car... it was then changed to the back of the car

i'll get the tracking checked in a few weeks.
