    NorwichUnions 'Rapid Bonus Scheme'

Is anyone on this scheme, it sounds like a good idea to me but im not sure whether its worth the extra money for it. Basically FPFT is 1050 for 12 months, while on this scheme it'll be 1250 for 9 months fully comp. So it's a faily large difference.

    Any opinions/catches?
    I'm thinking no atm :/

BTW: For those that dont know the basics are you pay for 9 months fully comp insurance and at the end you get a full years NCB.

I did this for a couple of years, but I did 10 months TPFT then got a year's bonus. When you worked it out on a month for month basis it was only about 3% more expensive than getting the whole year so I thought it was worthwhile. I don't believe in fully comp insurance, I believe in not causing crashes.

In my situation: nothing. Can't afford to claim at all.

in the event of a crash, it's either gonna be a write off or i'll end up paying through the excess anyway. Car value 400 max if you're drunk. Excess = 500 odd

elephant.co.uk do a similar thing - less price difference though.

I think it's probably a new way to con us young drivers out of more money.

I worked it out and decided it wasn't a con. I used to be with Admiral, this year I got a cheaper quote with Elephant (bizarre as they're the same company), and it was so much cheaper that I decided to go for the whole year in one go (seeing as that would take me up to 5 years NCB anyway, and very close to my 25th birthday). In both cases though I worked it out and it works out literally a couple of pounds extra per month. I'm not sure if you save money in the long term, because I don't know how much each extra year's NCB is worth, and you can never predict how much next year's premium will be! I do think it's probably saved me a little bit though.

Anyway Stubzz, if you haven't tried Elephant yet, you should. Norwich Union claim to "Quote you Happy", but every time I've tried them they've "Quoted me Crappy"

I am very glad I have comprehensive insurance! In September an uninsured driver ran a red light and caused about £2000 of damage to my car. Without fully comp insurance I'd be severely out of pocket. Of course, if your car is worth less than the excess it's not worth it, but if it's more than £3K it's a no-brainer.
What if somone hit your car in a car park and drove off?

these schemes are a rip-off as the 12 months for 9 months ncb cannot be transfered to another company when your policy expires...
