But then the Mini is generally just rubbish anyway, especially when it come to driving and handling

Scrabble indeed, since the weight of cars has gone up and there are common things like traction control 250+ fwd isn't as bad as the days of the GTE....

    Re: Anyone used a bluefin?

scrabble as in loss of traction because you are scrabbling about the road like a loony while the engine spins the wheels because of the silly amounts of power.

This is more likely to happen on a front wheel drive car (like mine) because it is trying to pull the car along (rather than push it with rear wheel drive) and trying to steer at the same time.

I think it sounds fun to be fair

Anyone know of a way to get a remap for a 2001 megane? All I'm seeing is links for VAG (so glad that isnt dirty) Fancy fixing it up for some extra....

Been reading this thread and it seems like the ECU mods are possible, but I was thinking more of replacing brakes and potentially suspension aswell to improve performance (and the suspension is pretty bad to start with lol)

    Re: Anyone used a bluefin?

I'm new to all this, but the best thing to start with is letting the engine breath better. Replace the filters and exhaust first (yes, i was thinking of doing this before a re-map). Then the brakes to get it stopping quicker.

That in itse;f can make a huge difference so I'm told.

    Re: Anyone used a bluefin?

    2001 Megane? Which engine?

To be honest you're unlikely to see any serious gain with a remap alone on something like a Megane. The remaps work so well on the VAG cars because they're turbocharged, and so a mild increase in the turbo's boost pressure has such a dramatic effect.

This would be for a MK5 Golf GTI.

    Right...

Firstly, I too, remain unconvinced by plug and play 'remaps' they are, in the main, unreliable.

With a 'proper' custom remap, assisted by a rolling road and diagnostic equipment, you reduce the risk of inflicting harm upon your pride and joy.

rough prices for a decent custom remap are around £350/500 depending on where you go.

My golf got done at rstuning in leeds, Paul be his name and he showed me a lot of his work, including the process and how he fully customised each engine map for my car, 6 hours of work, double that number of dyno runs and a complete diagnostic made me very happy to part with my hard earned cash.

He's actually a sponsor of the forum I'm on too, vwaudiforum, if you look him up he'll probably award a discount.

Bluefin, IMHO, are not worth the money.
