Anyone used a bluefin?

I'm talking about a Superchips Bluefin

Just got an email, they have a 20% off promotion right now, taking it down to £391 all in. Still a lot, but way better than the £489 it used to be.

This would be for a MK5 Golf GTI.

Any thoughts?

Im still not convinced by any form of plug + go type devices.

If it were me Id rather get my car re-mapped by a specialist, as they take into account that not every car is identical, they'll look at it, see what it can handle first/what its weak points are etc,and generally the results are much better for not much more.

Just my 2 cents anyway.

Any idea on the rough cost of a proper re-map then?

And are they easily reversable when it comes to sell the car?

Erm, not to sure tbh, its been a while since I looked into one, the best bet is to get yourself over (if you haven't already to a Golf GTI forum), google brings up http://www.golfgtiforum.co.uk/

They will know about any well respected garages/tuners that can re-map it for you.

Yep if you were to sell the car, Im pretty sure that the original map can just be put back on.

Jabbasport came quite highly recommended for diesel VAG remaps, could they provide you with a custom map for the GTi?

I would reccomend Revo - they are VW specialists and their TFSI maps are very well developed now.. not the cheapest but arguabley you get what you pay for with maps...
I had revo on both my skodas, and its the "preferred" choice of remap over on briskoda for the Octavia vRS which has the same engine

*edit* just checked the Revo site, there is a dealer in Aberdeen that I've used in the past. Checkpoint have been around for years, which is good.

Bluefin is a quick way of doing it. However all that power on the front wheels? No way will all that get transferred down. I have enough problems with my 1.8 Focus wheel spinning!
