    I tried to persuade my gf to get an RX8 last week - she settled on a a Ford Fusion -brrm brrm, not!
    The three £8Kish RX8s on prominent display at a local car supermarket were just begging to be bought.

    Re: RX-8 vs TT vs Z4...?

    Saw an RX8 go for £5k on ebay the other day. Also know 3 people who recently sold their in the last 12 months... maybe it's just that they've all reached the out of warranty status?

    Re: RX-8 vs TT vs Z4...?

    Perhaps

    I'm not too bothered by its age, as long as its relatively low mileage and serviced according to schedule. If it's much cheaper to buy from a non-mazda source (which it seems it is) then I'll go tht way, if it's £1.5k cheaper then I can just budget 1.5k servicing costs if anything goes wrong. If nothing does go wrong, I'm £1.5k up. I'm guessing that speding more that this is very unlikely, and having to spend this much is still unlikely.

    Definitely thinking more RX-8 - decided I don't like the shape of the old RX-8 and the Z4 is probably too much initial outlay.

    Don't really like the Supra (too 80s) and the MR2 (looks cheap to me, and no boot). Would consider an MX-5 if there was a decent sized engine one about...

    It does to some extent.. you can allow yourself 1.5k of 'free repairs'.. beyond which you panic and sell the car on again, or feel stupid

    I would avoid the RX...

    Tax = band G (£440)
    Economy = 25mpg max! (sub 20 round town)
    Reliability = hmmm.. not really suitable for short journeys.

    Re: RX-8 vs TT vs Z4...?

    So you'd spend the extra on a higher milage car from a Mazda dealer?

    Also, presumably if the car is pre - 2006 then the £400 tax band doesn't apply? Does it work like that? It seems to on the Direct.gov website but it's not entirely clear...
