Unfortunately that's the price you pay if it's anything more than a 1.0 Fester/Corsa/Ka etc.

My first insurance was £1400 TPFT on a 1.4 - and that was over 10 years ago !

That's very high Barakka. My first car was a 1.8L serria, and that cost me £680 to insure, that was 8 years ago.

Is that Third party fire and theft (i am sure it is)? Also did u select a high excess and low annual mileage? I am assuming you wont do more than 10k in a year, or if you are sure you could limit it even further.

Might be cheaper to be insured on a parents policy, but you wont be earning any no claims.

Situation is quite bad i am afraid Oh and i paid 670 when i was 22 and on a smaller size car/engine with pass plus.

Just remembered something. Once you got a couple quotes try phoning the cheapest ones against each other. Tell second cheapest that you got a cheaper quite elsewhere and they may drop a bit. Then phone the previously cheaper people. Keep pushing em. I had endsleigh and motaquote slug it out for about an hour, they would actually call me I think i took at least 50 quid off in the end, might've been 60. With higher quotes you may drop more. Also endsleigh are partially owned by the student union and they do better deals for students (not sure if you are one).

    Good luck.
