the first time theres been a rally in a WRC event held in mexico, and my word. IT FAST! thr roads run forever and more, and you could get three bus's down the road its that wide. Loeb, having won the first two rallys, had the misforune of going first on dust and sand. not a pleasent job, cleaning the track for every1 else... however, Loeb forgot to read the rule book, and instead of being slower becuase of this, he absoloutly nailed it threw day 1.
Solberg was right up with him, within 10 seconds, until his car wouldnt start when pulling into service control, Peter and and Phil tried to push the car, but pushing 1 tonne of car up a hill is tough work. so they got it to a yellow flag area (where you can have spectator help pushing) but too many people helped, and they were late, so they missed there time slot, so the marshalls wack a 5 minute! penalty on them. oh well, all's fair.
after day 1, it looks like this.
Sébastien LOEB
Citröen Xsara 1:02:58.9
Marcus GRÖNHOLM
Peugeot 307 WRC +8.4
Carlos SAINZ
Citröen Xsara +29.2
Markko MÄRTIN
Ford Focus RS WRC +43.3
Harri ROVANPERÄ
Peugeot 307 WRC +49.1
Francois DUVAL
Ford Focus RS WRC +58.7
If you remember back to my old post, i had solberg down as my favourite, he was 2nd and only a few seconds behind Sebba, but this pushes him right back. Loeb is on fire, but long theres a long awy to go. Fingers crossed for Gronholm. /me kisses sig.
***ooh update, Subaru appealed and Solberg got his penalty reduced tio 40 seconds.
which puts him just 34.4 seconds off Sebba**
