    The tyres are in pretty good nick despite being 8 years old- no cracking of the sidewall or anything like that. But if you read my post carefully, you will note that I did say that I am looking to replace them soon as a precaution (and because I want to see how well my car handles on decent modern tyres). You say that you don't trust self repairs but you provide no reason why not. I, as someone who has tried them over several thousand miles, and in a car that's as heavily loaded as it's ever likely to be, do trust them.

    You can get rubber insert that you push in from outside of ebay like £1.50 - but only for emergency ie if no spare
