    She's nearly ready

Some piccies for you car mad fiends and a big thankyou to David for being supportive in all this

    Big up for Hexus

It's time to get an RAC Log book for her now....so I take the car to an official and they give it the once over and make me a log book with a poicture attached and a security stamp is used to bond the picture to the log book...

    and we'll be ready

I also have a large HEXUS.net logo (thanks David for again) for the bonnet, but that goes on after the logbook is made.

    Like the door squares ?

Just a general thing mate... Fire extinguisher is not just Minimum required is it?

Been hearing some bad things about the new stuff - not like good old Halon from days gone by.

Good thought there Jiffster..and no...its no where near Minimum

    I have nearly doubled it.....

5.5 litre main tank......two nozzles in the cockpit and two in the engine compartment....and a big hand held too....

I have nearly 7 litres of extinguisher power

This car is engineered to last....and that includes me and Dave surviving any minor upsets

    Cheers for asking

    Many reasons....

    1: My pride
2: It must be checked for safety on every event and first it must be scrutineered by an RAC official for the build quality and engineering of the safety of us driving it....and as with all things...if a car LOOKS right it probably IS right.
3: Need a few photos for the Competition Log Book (described above) and you just dont want that picture to look like cack, do ya?
4: This car is mainly for tarmac events...its gonna get filthy, but prob not muddy

Actually a few people do run older BMW's...the issue is the class you wanna be in.

Thats a 1600 class I'm in.....to build a 1600 BMW with all the right parts for sensible money would be damn hard.....yopu need to be able to justify the dough cos if its higher than class equivalent then you might as well go up a class and try the 2 litre class or higher again.

PLUS...in the 1600class the WEIGHT is important...and BMW are heavy. RWD is also not always a benefit.....

    the cars to watch are....

    106 GTI and Saxo equivalent
Honda Civic Vtecs....damn things...160 bhp as ROAD cars..I have 108 total
Talbot Sunbeams......you gotta be good for one of those.
Corolla GT (rwd) relaible AND fast..but rare now.
Nova GTE (same engine as mine but smaller and lighter)

So WHY did I choose my car...? It fell in my lap and fits two big blokes...I;m tall and Dave is ...HUGE !

    We'll see.......

the QUAIFFE 5 speed is on order.......

£1700 for 5 gears and a limited slip diff......

    now THATS DOUGH

I;m not paying that bit......thats my partners dough..he wants the 96 mph top speed.....

and the lightning fast getting to it

    Looking good Zak.

I was considering a LSD for the Clio, but I've heard nothing but bad things from people who've had them. Just turned the GTTs into a horrible drive so I've held off for now. Bagsy a shotgun ride sometime.
