Did you know that Photo Card Licence's expire after 10 years?

Did you know that you need a new PhotoCard licence every 10 years?

And did you know that it'll cost you (currently) £17.50 for the priviledge.

It's been 10 years since these licences were launched, and a lot of people are getting large fines for not updating them, as it's just starting to earn the government money.

I did know that, which is why I'm quite happy with my non-photo card license

I think its good the ten year rule is in place, the photo of me from back in 05 certainly doesnt look like me now. The charge however is to much for replacing a bit of plastic...

Yeah I read not that long ago about the 10 year thing.

I dont know about everyone else, but I dont ever carry the paper bit in the car with me, its safely tucked away at home. (Technically arent you meant to carry both around with you?)

Re: Did you know that Photo Card Licence's expire after 10 years?

Mine is due in June but I also need to send back the paper licence to get points off so will send both together and get the points off and the new licence. Mind they say they will send you a reminder but each of the 12 people I have spoke to about their renewals not one of them got a letter from the DVLA.

Mine is probably out of date but I'm damned if I'll be renewing any sneaky government ID card at my own expense. I pay enough in taxes thank you very much.

Re: Did you know that Photo Card Licence's expire after 10 years?

Yes I did. Strange thing is mine started from 2008 and expires in 2015. Does the provisonal licence count aswell? Cause that would explain it!

    yes, it does.

Imagine all the money they're gonna make on this. Estmates are over £400,000,000 per year on updates alone.

Re: Did you know that Photo Card Licence's expire after 10 years?

I got a renewal letter, and renewed it a little before I was ready to drive again after more knee surgery. My biggest problem was resizing the photo to meet their specs, so a little cut and paste of blank background worked well.
The service was faster than I expected but, at that price, it should have been.

Re: Did you know that Photo Card Licence's expire after 10 years?

Mine runs out in October. Luckily, I can claim the money back off the RAF. Can hopefully get them to pay for my minibus (Cat D I think) training/licence as well.
