    Integra Type R drivers needed in here pls

    Hi guys,

    I had a proper drive on an Integra Type R this weekend (T reg UK car) (DC2?)

    Class thing, really lovely, BUT it had a weird trait.

    It weeved constantly while I was trying to drive sedately at anthing over 30 mph.

    To start with it felt like me being a nobber, but it took ages to get used too, and the owner didn't really notice it now cos he's had it a few weeks. I've never driven a car like it.

    So the question is this: Does anyone have/owned a Teggy that did this.... little steering inputs to keep it dead straight resulted in an immediate correction needed the other way, the suspension compressing each time a fraction and causing the mirror image effect again and again.

    Fast corners, it was awesome, slow corners it was awesome...but dead straight, it was quite stressful!

    I spent some time trying to suss it. I found that under any acceleration it pulled to the right a fraction, though tracked straight off the power, so I wondered if it was a toe-in on the left side under power. I dont know anything about these apart from having driven them briefly several times, but simply dont remember this trait.

    Front tyres were more worn than I'd like but no car I've ever driven has done this before.

    Weird...so any help would be good. I know it's hard but someone might recognise this. Cheers peeps

    Forgot to ask.

    Does it have a slipper (diff) and what sort? It must cos it pulled hard like my rally car in tight corners, and although it was hot and dry, it felt simlar to my rally car, if a tad more aggressive.

    not a 4ws, no.

    And not run flats, BUT it does feel like a tyre thing.

    I have just found that it's a heical LSD, but that's virtually indetical to my rally car, and that doesnt do it at all.

    i read something a while ago, about a car pulling to one side under acceleration but not coasting... i can't remember where i read it though , i'll go have a google to see if i can find it

    I would have though it was the LSD making it grabby under acceleration. Not heard about it being tricky in a straight line though..

    front toe in if its unstable in a straight line ?

    FRONT TOE IN/OUT

    Turning in is hard Increase opening (Negative value)
    Lacking straight line stability Decrease opening
    Good balance between turn-in / straight line stability None

    REAR TOE IN/OUT
    Looking for faster top speed Decrease opening
    Rear-end instability in a straight Increase opening

    It will all be in the geometry. Toe out, particularly on the rear, produces the kind of straight line instability you found. Camber can also come into it and if there isn't enough caster you'll suffer from bump steer.

    My CRX was set up similarly - absolute pig in a straight line but crisp turn-in, which was much more important

    I've never driven one and don't know much about them, but I remember reading that they've got double wishbones all round. It must be either wear or a setup problem.

    Deffo a setup issue.
    My Civic has the same engine, lsd and gearbox and only acts up if the tracking's out etc.
    (ok mine's not blueprinted and has longer ratios)
    My P-reg has 121k and has needed new bushes for the trailing-arms, rear ARB and front wishbones (all now polly'd) over the last few years.

    Just to clear the air - 4ws on preludes causes nothing of the sort Drives straight perfectly fine.

    May 2009 update. I've had a drive again.

    My mate simply got new tyres on the front. Nowt else... just new (Michelin) tyres.

    What a difference. It is solved. I have no idea what tyres were on it back then, or even if they were fitted arse about face, prolly being directional. BUT... either way, that is ALL that's been done, and the trait is gone.

    The car is a TOOL So much grip, such a noise, and so lovely... just gotta convince Sair out of her Saab 93 heated seats and touch screen satnav, and into one of these now
