£10 per BHP that sounds good to me which ever way you cut it
And yes the R35 GT-R is a techno masterpiece, I so want one to replace my S14a one day.

yup, the Zonda R is pretty phenomenal, but the opps not really in the market for a Pagani
A good but rather irrelevant post there muppet_hat
Hahahhahha, sorry, I was watching videos of it at the time, just thought I might share it!
R32 is a bit old though... lets admit it, cars are liabilities, they are a sinkhole for your cash, they are the worst investments ever, because the second you buy it its value depreciates 20%. Buying an old + modded car is the worst choice ever hahah. I don't mean to preach, but seriously sit on this one for a bit... think it through, consider other options, cause this may either be a great decision or one that will drag you down with repair fees!
Have you considered actually picking a better car, but 2nd hand instead?

When was the last time it was serviced, if its been tuned then running/rebuild costs might be a killer...
As for insurance you more than likely will have to have a tracking device fitted.
Total rubbish, an r32's value would have depreciated long ago, when looking to buy a 10 year old car depreciation is the last thing you worry about.
And why is buying a modifed car a bad idea?? generally a well modified car will have a lot of attention paid to its maintenance and thousands spent on keeping the engine, brakes and suspension to a good standard.
I don't think i've ever read so much rubbish in so little text.
If you buy an old car (Saxo etc) that looks like it was a Halfords show car, that had been owned by a youth probably called Wayne who wears Nike tracksuits, then yes it probably would be a bad investment.
Maybe you had a problem with your old Corsa that you bought from Wayne?
However if you buy something like an R32, that Wayne in his youth couldn't afford to insure and run it will usually be a different story. Cars like this are generally somebodys pride and joy, they are meticulously maintained and looked after by it's enthusiast owners, a safer bet than a car being sold from a dealer that knows nothing of the cars history.
There's the rub because in its day the R32 had few if any peers, even the RX7 and 3000GT weren't genuine competition (IMHO). Since then even the Skyline itself has changed hugely, the R33 was similar but quite a different beast and it's continued from there.
So in reality there really is nothing quite like an R32 leaving just unenviable task of finding a good one and getting to your drive before the next peep!
Had I the cash to keep it running I'd have one!

Well after MUCH thinking over...I'm gonna plough the money into an ISA and fix up the MX-5 instead.
I keep reminiscing wiping the smiles off the R32 and R33 owners when they failed to leave me for dust (until we hit 120mph) in a straight out "drag style" race.
An R32 is still one of the cars I'd love to own, along with an FD-3S (20B baby!!!), S2k yadda yadda yadda..you get the idea. Oh not forgetting the classic AE86, NA tuned 4A-GE...mmm....
Anyhow just to add my 2p in response to muppet_hat: buying an old + modified car is not a silly idea as it all depends on what you are buying. R32s are generally very well loved for cars (and driven hard ) and running costs etc are all part and parcel of being part of the ownership.
Oh and if I forgot to mention, the R33 turbos fitted have been rebuilt with steel internals and 360 bearings.
Well i wasn't exactly sure what the purchase was going to be for? A temporary play and then re-selling it?
Either way, buying a tuned car is never a great idea. Although it may have been maintained well it may well be in its terminal months.

most modded cars are a liability.... but for a few Jap examples it's no worse than overclocking your CPU. Those Skylines are BEGGING to be tweaked.....

Of course if I win the lottery...different story.
