Rallying legend Ari Vatanen has declared his interest in succeeding Max Mosley as president of Formula 1's governing body the FIA.

"At the moment I am consulting the member clubs and am already seeing positive feedback," he told Reuters.

"I am considering standing.

"I think the time has come for a change.

"I would go for it, even if not sure of winning."

I've got no idea what he'd be like in the job - he's a euro MP or something isn't he at the moment? So presumably he's used to politiking. Could be good news for rallying, and certainly I'd rather him than a certain ex Ferrari guy..

Have you seen the latest? The FIA decided that the FOTA teams weren't allowed to have a vote on the regulations for 2010 because they aren't on the entry list..

Ideal candidate having background in both politics and racing. Suspect he'll be doing more on the politics side though.
