    Oh what fun...

...it is to be stuck at the side of the road waiting for an hour and a half for the RAC to turn up

It had to happen I guess, but today was the first major brake-down. Basically it's been a bit iffy all day, but every now and again the gear linkage will cease and I'll only be able to get 1 or 2 gears. The lever usually won't move left or right from centre and forward and aft in only one direction.

Anyhow, came around the corner, went to go down the 3rd and it wouldn't have it

I looked under the hood and could see where the linkage was, and what it did when 4th was selected, but I didn't want to fiddle with it. RAC man turns up, couple of minutes of fiddling with the linkage and I've got all 6 gears again

At least I know how to solve it in the meantime. Straight to a dealer on Tuesday though.

    *sigh*

    Oh well, rubbishrubbishrubbishrubbish happens.

I've been without my 172 (see the corsa thread) due to a knackered alternator.
When the dealer stripped the car down, he found that the alternator pulley has a chunk missing, hence caused the alternator belt to wear and hence cause the alternator to overheat and fail.

They have also found that the CV joint has a crack

Fortunately all is covered under warranty, just means I have the Corsa until tuesday at least.
