    If you had £12000....

... what car would you have?

yes it's another one of those posts but i'm looking at ditching my micra soon and setting a budget of a total £12k now i was look at a 206 GTi or even a TVR (some thing like a chimera - 8yr old 2nd hand on autotrader - 11k!)

What would it be used for?
Does it need to be reliable (8yr old TVR's are not)
    What about insurance?
Driving experience? Micra to TVR sports car is not recommended.
How long do you want to keep it?

LOL - front light underpowered car to a light rear high powered car - i know what u mean!

So what i've been hearing about TVR reliablitly is true - the fact their crap!

i want a nice powerful car - i don't want a BMW or Merc - i was thinking of getting a vectra V6 but i've heard that their crap untill they get to 60 - then they fly.

On the other hand i was thinking of a 106 GTi as they have power but i'm after alittle bit more room (the whole point of getting rid of the micra) hence looking at the 206 GTi.

driving experience - i'm in my 3rd year of driving, looking into getting a racing licence (or at least some thing better than the pass plus crap they do)

Insurance could be a problem - as i have only 1 NCB

but i just want to avoid getting some "scally runaround" (no offence to any one with one - just not my bag!)

I'd spend 9k on having another GTT engine put in the back of my Clio, then spend the rest on a run around.

    400bhp+ AWD Clio.

i was thinking of getting the Celica carlos sainz - guy at work as one running at 280Bhp - 4 wheel drive as well - lovely!

R33 Skyline - would be very nice but insurance would be as high as the TVR!

Only if you've got 11k a year to spend keeping it on the road, and don't mind not driving it on days with a T in...

It was the TreVoR's owners day in Blackpool a few weeks back and I saw a 2002 Tuscan owner trying deperately to start the engine for at least 30 mins... whirrr... chug.... whirrr... chug.... starts.... gets 2 feet, revs disappear, stalled.... whirrr... chug.... and so on LOL !

My fave quote about TVR's was in a post comparing cars to women country by country...
British Cars, Like British Women (wheres the noose). Bit of a dodgy past, sedately styled nice to take home to your mum and always makes a great Aunty, but again - does she really make you want her?? There is an exception here to the rule - TVR! Blackpools finest are actually more like Essex Girls - Fantastic for a night, but you dont want to have to live with her!

DUDE! Get the TVR. Are you gonna care what all these non-believers think when you pull up into the car park and everyones head turns (then looks down.)

You know that you want this car but dont get it in yellow, unless you're a lass.....hehe

Who cares if it breaks down all the time, i think i would enjoy seating in my TVR. Especially when the RAC/AA comes up open mouthed at his luck! Then when you lift the bonnet his jaw hits the floor.

    You know you need it
