Thumbs up Interesting bits of road

Everyone knows about the Magic roundabout in Swindon...

But has anyone seen this before? Until last night I'd not, though Merlin took me around there in his new 04 Scoob.

    http://www.multimap.com/map/browse.c...up.x=14&up.y=9

It's known as the Cloverleaf for obvious reasons. However, what that map doesn't show is the fact that the loops of the clover are banked heavily, and that in the whole of Redditch there's only one speed camera and it's nowhere near the Clover... You can go from one loop to another without chopping anyone up, and it's probably the most fun you can have with your clothes on in a car.

Anyone else know of any unusual bits of road where the planners were smoking something?

cloverleafs are quite common arent they? not normally banked thou.

did ya know there is a single carrigeway stretch of motorway somewhere up north - the only single carrigeway road in the country where you can legally go 70

I guess you're thinking about J6 of the M6 - so called Spaghetti Junction That's just up the road from me. Suprisingly it's not difficult to navigate - it's very well thought out.

5lab - I've never seen another Cloverleaf like this. Where might I find another?

Reminds me of my "Junction from Hell". Exeter services roundabout under the M5. It's just a large roudabout nothing complicated, yet I ALWAYS have problems on it . Its a family joke now, and the kids will always pretend to be busting for a wee when we approach. Anyone else have problems with seemingly normal junctions?

Redditch - not too far from my Dad.

To be honest - the whole of Redditch was built in the 50's/60's/70's and the planners must still be laughing now

I think there's a motorway up north (scotland maybe) where the exits go off the wrongside of teh road

ugh, that new entrance to the toll road on the M6 does my swede in. going westbound, omg whoever designed it did not factor in the trucks on the M6.

Living in Cov means I have to be near the M6 alot, most junctions are just stupid.

As for that clover in Reddich, I got a golf tourney there in a few weeks, may have to go for an after dinner spin

From what i have seen of Cov on a few occasions, they have the most bizarre crossover junctions ever!

As for Nottingham, the A52 road from Bramcote Island to Bardill's roundabout is wicked. No speed camera's, and the traffic lights 'almost' give you a perfectly straight start onto the national road

No stupid bits of motorway in or near Reading, the only stupid road system there is the 1 way system. I dare somebody who hasnt been to Reading before not to get totally confused and lost within about 2 minutes.

Yeah, that ringroad can be amusing, and I totally agree about the entrance to the Toll road. The cynic in me thinks that they did that on purpose to get as many people as possible to accidently join the M6T...

On the A41 from Aylesbury to Hemel Hempstead there is an exit for Chesham.

It has a small slow down area and then hooks 90 left so you have a job keeping to Dual Carriageway speeds and getting off smoothly.....but to make it worse....

it has a CYCLE ROUTE too....and to keep the CARS out of the really tight inner edge of the 90 left is a kind of concrete ridge in the road...about 6 inches high....

WHEN FIRST COMING OFF THERE you end up DITCH HOOKING your front left rim on the wrong side of this little bugger and nearly losing your front subframe as the car is physically tugged around the corner......and at about 40 miles per hour if you DONT turn left when it wants you too....a split second later your front rim gets thrown up into the wheel arch and you just dont make the exit!

    Totally dreadfull
