I miss Lancia

Does ayone else miss the madness of Lancia (of old)?

I know they couldn't survive here.. it was hell for them.

But I miss them... mainly cos I was baraged by a Delta Integrale today and I needed new pants after it passed!

Should they come back to the UK or are they just too... corporate?

Yes I do, Deltas, Beta Coupes, Fulvias, Montecarlo's all innovative and super stylish for their day. If only they could get on with our climiate. Twas a sad day when they withdrew from the UK market:-(

Still see these quite often at the local rallies I attend .

I even helped bounce one off the road once when both rear wheels decided to snap off some guys car in the middle of the track (Mid-rally).

there's a good chance with Fiat's Chrysler tie up that Lancia could go dead, especially now that Alfa have been confirmed as going back to global - I just can't see Lancia surviving - which is a shame, especially as they push the boundaries of design in europe - without a shadow of doubt when it comes to production cars...

I'm sorry but that is horrific, I know the original wasn't exactly pretty but it had poise and purpose, none of that has been carried across.

That looks like your typical Euro car with a Chinese type of front in.

In fact I may just vomit.

I have seen other pictures of it from most angles. I haven't seen anything that makes it look nice. I don't even see how they can call it a Delta? It carries none of the originals design cues through at all.

My friends Mum used to have a Beta Coupe, mainly because his Dad had this knack of buying odd or charasmatic cars. I had a ride in it, it was a lovely thing. Then it fell apart with rust. His Dad then got her a silly Rover Metro thing lol.

I seem to recall him having a Daf Vario-matic in his garage too !

Yes I miss the old Lancias, my Beta Spyder is still one of the most fun cars I have ever driven, before the rear suspension failed. A stupid mild steel pressing had rusted through, apparently that was mandated by FIAT that they made it like that. A mate bought a later Beta Coupe and that had the proper Lancia design using an adjustable tubular setup.

The modern ones look dire though, so if you want one just build it yourself.
