    I live just off Hyde Road Jim About 2 mins from Mount Road or 10 or so from Denton round about.

    I'd advise against that, particular since it's next to impossible to drive around Manchester without hitting the motorways. I cannot describe how much I appreciated the fact that my driving instructor was sitting in the car giving me helpful advice the first time I joined a motorway - it's incredibly reassuring.
