    Car insurance for a week

I'm going on holiday for a week and i said that i'd give my little bro (19) my car (VW Passat CC 3.2 V6 GT) whilst i was away and i was wandering what the best way is.

When i've looked at all these short term insurance policies and you need to be 23 or older but as my bro is 19 i have a problem.

Could i put him on my insurance (which i would then have to pay some stupid amount) and then when i get back take him off. (The getting a refund for the rest of the year in which he isn't on it)

    Thanks guys.

I doubt they will give you a refund for taking him off, have you ask if your insurer will put him on for a week? I presume you have, my father put me on his car for a day so i could test it once.

Quite a high risk car, considering the age of your brother, and the fact that at best he would only have 2 years NCB.

I would say the only real option would be to put him on your policy (If your insurers will even do this, given his age) and cancel/remove him when you return. I really wouldnt like to say what would happen with regards to getting a refund after removing him for the rest of the year.

    my advice?

don't put him on at all. If you actually manage to get him onto your insurance, there'll be an increased excess attached and I doubt it's even economic to insure him on it.

    That's the problem.
I trust him but from an insurers point of view it must look terrible.

I may give my insurance company a ring later this evening and see what they say but i'm not holding out much hope.

Oolon, what insurance company was that with and did it cost you anything extra?

Mycarsavw, i'll try and remember to post some pictures of the engine soon. Sorry but with my housebuild going on i keep forgetting.
I also mean to update my thread about it as i've had the car for a while now.
