    Short Term Insurance

Anyone ever needed this, who did you go thru and what sort of limitations did you get?

Basically wanna do the last two car shows of the year (TVL and Trax) now the Cav's sorted but dont wanna insure it full time atm as the A2 still has tax on it so wanna get legal on the Cav for two weekends, 7th Aug and 5th Sept so might as well do the whole weekend (Fri-Mon)

theres a few 28 day options, might be worth asking your current company for a quote as well as they may come up trumps

When I had temp insurance, I just phoned up my current insurer and asked for temp cover. Worked out about 25 quid for a week. One thing that they pointed out was the 25 quid charge was for any time under a week, so you might as well go for the whole week. Might be the same with your insurers so check that out.

I can recommend aviva's short term policies, very quick and easy to sort out and its immediate drive away cover

    Re: Short Term Insurance

You might run into a bit of trouble as from memory temporary insurance companies really dont like dealing with stuff over a certain age. Iirc its something like 15 years old max.

    Re: Short Term Insurance

I used to insure my old P-reg rover through http://www.dayinsure.com/ when I wasn't driving her regularly. Never had any problems with them and I always felt the rates were very reasonable. That said, it was a couple of years back so she probably wasn't as old as 15 at the time...

EDIT: OK, just for fun (by which I mean I was looking at an overly elaborate scheme to see if it was worth buying an old banger for the summer instead of hiring a car ) I did a dayinsure quote this evening and they won't do cars over 10 years old...
