    which pickup?

    Hi guys,

Im after a pickup and have narrowed it down to the old shape l200, probably a 4life, and a D22 Navara, both costing in the region of 3500-4000 pounds. Does anyone have any experience of either? it will be used for around 70/30 road/offroad, and used as my everyday vehicle.

i've checked out the l200 community site which has been very useful, but as i am yet to drive both i thought i'd ask here for peoples opinions. what would you go for? anything to note? it seems that the navara has more power, around 20bhp, but the l200 has a proper difflock.

    thanks

    Re: which pickup?

its a good idea, but they only really recently got for everyday use (ie, as a car replacement), meaning unfortunately way out of my budget. very nice trucks though

    holden/vauxhall maloo

as for the navara. my driving instructor had one and he sold it within a few months, he couldnt get along with it for some reason, said it was uncomfortable and handled like a brick. maybe it was the way he drove it, maybe not.

    HI

Right suggestion, vauxhall maloo will be the best option. On Top Gear BBC "Richard Hammond" give a brief description about Maloo. You will find video on youtube, watch that video before purchasing any pick up.

    Regards
    Jeremy

That looks like something off That Will Buff Out! you may as well just get an estate!

We had a very basic L200 at work for a while and I really liked it, scary when trying to park, but felt great on the open road. I have nothing else to compare it with, but my boss at the time swore by his Mazda pickup (looked like an old Ford inside)

    Re: which pickup?

    I'd look at a Hilux

I had a D40 for 3 years and had a few issues with it - make sure it has a load liner install and that you remove it before you purchase to check its fine underneath - a lot of rust and issues happen here.

Also check the wheel linings to ensure the ABS brake sensor hasn't come through
