    Re: Warm hatch for £7k

I went for an Audi A4 1.8T Sport, 0-60 in about 8s and it cost me 3p more to insure than my Honda Accord/Rover 600 despite being a lot faster

If you hunt around you could very easily get a decent one for under £4k and spend the rest on nice things

Or an A3 1.8T Sport (I tried one but the steering wheel was too low for me and I didn't have enough room to move the steering wheel fully)

    they're adjustable arent they?

Pull Push and Up Down. Maybe you missed out on that one? Not sure though.

Should be - you can adjust wheel reach and rake, and seat position up/down and forwards/backwards so you should be able to replicate any position found in other cars.

Seat dropped as far down and back as it would go, it had reach+rake but it was still hitting my legs whichever way I tried, even tried tilting the seat but no luck

It wasn't a huge issue in the end, it would have meant I would have to get the car on credit and it turns out I couldnt get insured on it with my current insurer

Had the same issue with the new Honda Civic/Accord and a few other new cars I'd expect to be ok with (I think the size of the steering wheel has something to do with it)

You'll find that the 2L 3dr Focus isn't exactly sluggish (0-60 is quicker than the Massey Fabia VRs) and, IIRC, the insurance is group 8 or so.

Love my Fiesta ST (2.0), Moondust Silver, got it £4,400 (Manager deal). '06 plate with 23k on mileage, had it over a year now.

    Runs like a dream.

How about a C2 VTS or a Swift Sport, both ~125BHP and group 9 or less insurance wise.
