Official HEXUS Motorshow Review! - Inc Pics

    Official HEXUS Motorshow Review!

Pulled up at the NEC at Birmingham after a 3 hour drive from the North East. I was a bit shocked at the price of the car parking. £8.50!!! bit much, but what choice do you have? None. There was about a 10 minute walk from the car park to the Halls, but this was quite entertaining as we could watch the amphicar blasting it about the lake while we were walking towards the main halls. They are very impressive! I had heard of the new amphicar before but didnt expect them to be as fast as they were.

    Want 1? That'll be £75,000 please.........

Inside the halls were some very impressive stands. Ford had a nice interactive thunderbird stand but it was mega busy so i didnt get to see it. Not too bothered cause i dont like Fords.

So whats my personal favourites....... Cars of the show?

This little concept baby from Mazda...

anyone want a 2 litre micra ? Very nice!!!!!

The new Honda HSC was nice too... i want. i want... a replacement for the lovely NSX.

Is it worth going? without a doubt. I loved it. The mini action area was superb! In previous years they have done these stunts in normal mini coopers, mini one's etc... but this year was different. They were cabriolets! Very impressive. It looked great fun, and the smell of burning rubber... yum

Did u go to the live arena? And if yes is it worth the 7.50? Also what did u get to do apart from actually looking at cars? Was it very busy?

I don't think £8 or so is terrible for all day parking to an event. Also, between 2 of us it will be £4 which negligable. I would start talking pricey if the price became half the ticket cost...but it don't

But yeh, is the Live action Arena worth it?

Erm, 8.50 is more than half the ticket cost. With tickers being £16. And as 5th gear said - in europe its about 6 quid for a ticket normally. Also they said live arena was rather dull. However there will be ques for offroading and test drives.

I can remember seeing the Micra at Santa Pod a while back, dunno if it was a RWYB day or a japfest day. It is lightning fast though, think it was doing mid 13s-14s on the track

Having never been to a show like this before, paying near enough to £20 for a whole day seems very fair personally. Think how much you'd pay to get in most places for a day...this isn't exactly a stately home after all where a family pass is £5.

Well, don't forget that if you want to see the live action arena thats another 7.50. And a tenner for a ride in a caterham if u want it. And as 5th gear said - its around 6 quid for motorshows in europe - and they would have more stuff to see too. I only managed to persuade one of my mates to come with me. This will bring them 32 pounds and 2 people. If the ticket was just 6 quid then i am sure we could have a full car of people - 30 quid and 5 people. Now, its probably less of a hassle for the organisers if less people turn up, but surely the show is held so that car manufacturers can strut their stuff! And I am sure they'd rather strut it to 5 of us instead of 2. Now personally it might be quite good for me as the numbers may be lower, but if i could save a tenner i might put up with a bit more crowd. It just smells of moneygrabbing rather than of a show when they want to show us what they can do. In any case, i am gonna try and get my money's worth in test drives and off road stuff - although i probably wont be able to handle the ques.
