Wow! Just followed a Maserati 430 through Newbury up the hill to Tesco's - WHAT A NOISE!!

Weren't they some kind of stupidly un-reliable bi-turbo? I bet there ain't many of them being driven round the uk.

Introduced in 1981, the Biturbo range of Maseratis expanded to include a four-door sedan in 1986 with the 425 model. The 430 arrived a year later, featuring new sheet metal, a larger 2.8-litre engine, quad exhaust, twin air-to-air intercoolers and a new interior. In 1991 came the inauguration of the most powerful Maserati sedan to date, the 430 4V, which was essentially the same car as the 430 with the exception of four-valves-per-cylinder versus two for the 430. Some of the features on this car include intercooled twin-IHI-turbochargers and a Getrag 5-speed manual gearbox. The resulting performance is roughly identical in every respect to the (much more expensive) two-door Ghibli and still in the same league as the (even more expensive) Shamal. Exciting in every driving sense, the only letdowns about this model include the shady-reliability and overly subtle design, the latter possibly being an asset to those seeking the ultimate Italian sleeper.
