Hmm, so should I just take off the caliper slider completely then so I can get the disc off?

I'll draw a figure tonight from memory if I have a chance to show how it was assembled, I was going off a guide that had the screws I was trying to remove removed which may have thrown me.

Annoyingly even the Haynes manual lists the wrong discs, and it's the edition that is only for the facelift!

What you need it a hex socket.

Attach a breaker bar of a length suitable for your weakness, I like 3 or more feet.

Re: Getting off a hex bolt

Always use a hex socket on something tight.
I haven't used used heat to loosen things for
years[gave my oxyacetylene up in 1988].
Give the heads a good smack with hammer, it
    will break the rust.
WD40 and plus gas the penetrating bit is probably
paraffin, smells like it, I have never used either.

Re: Getting off a hex bolt

Well the car is going to go into a garage when I find one to take it to... bought the hex socket with the biggest drive I could (1/2" square drive) and just with hand strength on one side the bolt seemed to be partially stripped (was just turning), so tried it on the other side...

    I had a whoopsie

That was just from using my hands and steady force!

The part is going back, hopefully a garage will take the work to replace the bolts, most places in the area aren't too keen on labour only work

Re: Getting off a hex bolt

I'm impressed, I have had several of these hex sockets, and even with all 15st of me jumping on one end of a 3' breaker bar in frustration over a seized bolt have never managed to do that.

I have one of these for getting the pedals off my bike. They only come off once in a blue moon, so they get really stuck on there - I severely bent a regular 8mm allen key on those bolts, but this one got them off without even breaking a sweat
