Just heard on Radio 1 on way back from work that a "russian businessman" has just bought the blackpool based car company TVR.
Any one heard anything else? Wonder what this means will happen to that classic british sports car brand?

TVR HOLDING STATEMENT
We can confirm that a 100% shareholding in UK car-maker TVR has been purchased today. The new owner is Nikolai Smolenski.
Plans for the future are to continue trading, invest heavily in new technology and production methods, and hence enhance the TVR brand to become a global player.
There will be no large-scale restructuring and new managerial appointments will be made in due course. Peter Wheeler, previous owner, will remain on board as a senior consultant.
*edit* beaten to the quote by stoo :p */edit*
Hopefully if wheeler stays on the board traction control won't appear in every model that tvr ship, very mild traction control is already on the T350 iirc. Hopefully this can only be good for the company as the extra financial backing could lead to some great things. Still wish it was british owned though :(
That's about the last great british sports car manufacturer sold off now isn't it?
ps. sorry knoxxy ;)
Tart :p
We still have lotus don't we?
Who are owned or part owned by Proton..
I think there's only Caterham and Morgan left..
Westfield? Noble? Marcos?
Hopefully it'll mean better reliability, but not sat nav, air con and traction control.
Arrggh Man WTF!
Its gonna be made un-british :( hope they don't change at all :(
TVR r0x and will be a shame if that changes!
Marcos is part Dutch now.. somehow forgot about Noble and Westfield lolQuote:

Yup, something like that, 4 out of 30 odd really is pretty sad :(
Lister are british I think.
Hope they wont change too much, obviosuly styling will change with new models, but engines, gearboxs, and lack of electrics wont change too much.
MG/Rover?
Tbh bently can be called a VW and its still a great car.
And you all lust for a DB9 even though some call them fords. Its not the end of the world. Wonder if this will mean that we will have russia's first proper supercars :) Btw if noone guessed yet i am russian. Well, Belarussian by nationality, with russian mum and belarussian dad, but i don't tend to differentiate much :)
Not forgetting Bristol too. And Farboud and Invicta. I used to love the Listers, haven't seen much of them lately tho.
maybe they will employ some quality control staff now....nah probably not :P
What makes me sick is that the 'kid' who bought them out is 24!! My age!!
"My daddies a banker..." Well, something that rhymes with that anyway... ;)
(his dad is actually a Russian banker, owns lots of them)
Same as the guy who owns Chelsa. It's all gangster money left over from the communist/cold war era that they need to spend to avoid massive taxes russia is due to introduce. Hence why a load of businesses accross the globe are being bought by rich Russians.
Plus, h'es young so everyone trusts him, unlike a guy who's 45, looks like a gangster etc.
