    Unhappy Been Dented!

This is the first time something like this has happened... Not a very nice feeling at all...

I was parked up, off the road, just past where the road bends quite sharply. A flat bed truck, with a scrap car and some wheels on the back, came around the bend. Just my luck, one of the wheels comes flying off the back of the truck and straight into the side of my car! Scared the hell out of me...

Luckily the truck driver noticed, or maybe it was my hooting that did it! He pulled over and he gave me his details! Luckily he seemed like a decent chap!

Was quite lucky really! Hate to think what would have happened if it hit my window, above the door!

Quite a deep dent Looks worse than the pics. Probably going to need a whole new door skin. Window seal doesn't make contact with the bottom of the window either.

    Oh well..........

Damn, one dented Clio...still, it would of been a lot worse had it gone through the window and caught you around the head!.

Tell me about it! Out of the whole row of cars, yep, it hit me.... If it didn't hit me tho, it would've hurt someone as there were quite a few people on the pavement! So in a way I'm glad it was just my car.

Also quite lucky my window was up, because that definately would have broken it if it was wound down!

Its amazing how many "What if"'s you can think of afterwards!

Just greatful my girlfriend's and my head are in tact!

ouch, atleast its fixable relatively easily...

just make sure you get a decent bodyshop to do the painting, or get a similarly 'aged' door of same colour if you can.

That almost looks like it'll pull out and not need respraying. Depends if there are any creases after it's been pulled.

    Lucky escape for you though

because of where it is it will prolly need a new door, that ridge on the door is the strongest part of it, shame it didn't hit the wing, with it being plastic it would have bounced straight back at him lol

I have a dent on my clio (exact same coulour as yours but an X plate 1.4s) and I need to get it done, it was when my mate opened the door onto a lamppost

Lucky escape for you both tho....

Unfortunately the force was so hard, it actually bent the window frame out. I can just about get my hand inbetween the window and doorframe, into the door itself!

Can't quite see in the pics, but it isn't a nice clean dent that will just pop out There are a couple of creased bits, which I doubt they'd get out even if they tried! It looks like when you twist an alluminium drinks can.

Luckily insurance are sorting it out... They use "approved bodyshop places, that will guarantee it for 3 years, blah bla blah" I just hope they get the colour right!

Someone opened their car door onto the passenger side which has left a very slight dent, its a pity they were both on the same side!! Could've gotten it fixed then!

    Antsss,
when you deliver the car to the bodyshop, ask to deal with the other side.
Many will include it in the quote, but not tell insurance, ie just increase it a little, or do it for free etc.

    Deffo worth asking.

Yeah I'm definately going to ask! I'm sure that one will just pop out quite nicely!

just to stop ya fretting....a wheel would not have made it into your car.....its too big.

Plus, windows are strong things....they would shock you as to the damage they take.

If you have all your windows closed, the air in the car acts like a cushion, and the galss is very very hard.

    You were safe.....promise

    Cheers Zak!

I hadn't thought about the fact all the windows were shut etc.

Just want it fixed now.... I don't like driving around in a dented car! People are going to think I don't know how to drive or something! haha...

Reminded me of a landy i was in (search for my offroading trip for details) being hit by its own wheel. After it fell off, hit a fence and bounced back at us. Don't think there were any noticeable dents, even though thats quite a big wheel.

Shame about your car being hit Antsss. lets hope this won't affect your NCD.

Had the car looked at the other day by the body repair people. She's going to need a whole new "door skin" Its going to be a 4 day job! I just really hope they match the colour up okay!

Get on Cliosport or something and just get a new door from the scrappy, theres no point in paying for a new skin when its easier and cheaper to just replace the whole door....
