Rewarding your car with issue free motoring

So who else does this and how? As someone who generally buys/keeps old cars they can have their issues in ownership

    As an example of this:
Took my 12 year old car in for an MOT yesterday and to get some new brake discs fitted (on a side note the garage even fitted the supplied parts at a reassonable price which included pressing bearings into the discs )
Came out with a perfectly clean MOT, not even a single advisory
So I'm taking it for a proper wash tomorrow, doing the wheels the lot

Anyone else guilty of treating their cars every once in a while?

My car is French, so it enjoys being treated badly...

Re: Rewarding your car with issue free motoring

Not sure about treating the car itself as such but I do try / want to keep mine in top working order if not top cosmetic order (too late for that unless I wanted to spend way way more than the car is worth!)... though I do like a properly cleaned car, inside and out, including the bits a car wash can't get.

I'm not driving much at the moment, so it will probably wait until the new year, but I need to replace various bushes on the rear suspension and I'll probably ask for a speculative quote for doing the lot, front and rear, plus any other bits that look like they might need it.

And some time before next summer I'll probably treat myself to working air con (I *think* the heater control valve is stuck open - which is a dash off job apparently - so I might just do what I did last summer which is wear shorts and drive around fast with the windows open...)

My car is 13 years old, flown through the last 3 MOT's

Had an advisory on a worn bush on the one before, so I replaced all the bushes.

MOT are pretty easy to pass, you can check most of it yourself.

Pro active replacing of old ware'n'tare items should help keep your car working in tip top condition. ie, non service items like distributor cap, rotor arm, cleaning out various valves. Regular oil / filter changes.
