Fiesta 2006 wont start !!

ford fiesta 2006

started car, opened door car cut out, now will not start but, really wants to start

I don't think its the battery or the starter motor as the car really wants to start but, there is nothing at the end of the starting cycle,

I have tried jump leads, no good

Any ideas

If it happened when you opened the door, I'd be checking the fuses - one might have blown if there was a short.

Failing that, check each spark plug for ignition. If they're okay, I'd be looking at the coil pack (rare to totally go instantly) and fuel related supply issues. Immobiliser (if present) is another one to consider.

If you have the ability to check the OBD2 port, do so and check for any listed faults.

thanks for the info,

I read somewhere that there is a way to reset the immobiliser but, my key-fob is a little tempramental

Also i have tried to start it with the manual transponder key as well, still no luck

Is the starter turning? if so it's probably the fuel injector shutoff. The reset is in the passenger footwell, a small hole just in front of the door

What size is the hole and is it located any where near the bonnet release catch ?

"In my fiesta 1.25 (2007) if you locate the fuse panel (behind the bit of kit where you keep all your rubbish in front of the passengers knees), get to it by opening aforemention storarage space and squeezing clips together and let drawer drop down towards you.
fuse panel now visible, use your fingers to the right(left of panel on uk model) of fuse panel is what appears to be old type relays, they are resets (think) the yellow one (on my ukraine model/built in germany) press the reset once only and try to restart engine."

The AA geezer came to fix it (Thanks Don)

He used the manual primer pump to see if this would cure the startup problem, at first it did nothing for a couple of tries, then all of a sudden, it started !!

He said maybe an air in the system issue as a result of a perished injector seal or something
