The silvia is infact the old 200Sx ( 'tis the S12 - nice ones can be picked up for 4-500 )
fitting an LSD to it isn't that easy though - some people do weld them up which is possibly a bit drifty
A corolla GT ( Hachi-Rocku or AE86 Toyota Levin) is a great 1st RWD car , but they are stupidly expensive - mainly due to their popularity in the Initial D Anime series , and the fact that the Irish drift teams are obsessed with them. A good AE86 will set you back £4k for a prepped one ( B reg !!! )

Is this to be a pure track car (I.E Trailered there and back) or more a 2nd car/semi track thing?
See, my idea of a track car is caged within a inch of its life, zero interior, fat racing seat and 5 point harness and plastic windows.
You could just about drive it on the road (always usefull) but you wouldn't really want to pop to the shops in it.....
HOWEVER, there is a snag with the above. See, I'd class a cage as an essential item. It'll help strengthen the shell, which means the suspension will work better, thus making the whole thing more fun on the track. However, drop a cage into your average road car and try and insure it;
It's a track day car that could be used in case the 182 is at the dealers or summat.
Or a weekend blast etc.
not the trailor option.
Hence why things like 200sx, mx5, westfield etc appeal.
Just the budget is the problem
I don't have issues with stripping the interior, but would like to maintain 2 seats and a steering wheel
Some of them 200's are <2k. Must confess to being tempted myself.....
hmmm, just been looking on ebay at mx5, crx and 200's
There is a P plate S14 200sx on there currently at £821!!
Even that's gotta be worth a punt surely?
Must admit I prefer the S14 looks to the S13. If I were a fussy man, I'd prefer an S14a but they are well above the budget!
The S14 has the slightlier torquey engine , but speed wise there is very little between them.
both are pretty cheap to tune , but the S14 engine (SR20 DET ) does not get the bottom end failure problems the S13 ( CA18DET) engine has. ( the end of line S13's in Japan had the SR20 fitted )

Best place to look for a CRX is on the forum at www.hondacrx.co.uk
There have been a few mint examples recently, but there's always 'project cars' floating around
Now would be the time to buy also - have you thought of buying something alreadt modded? With the season end I would guess (if its anything like drag racing) a lot of complete cars get sold cheap.
One of the mags (think it was either Retro or PPC) purchased the whole shebang including trailer very cheap of..... E-Bay of all places.
Also - is it just a 'track day' car or are you thinking of actually doing a few races - if so, might be an idea to see what cars are available for which series
Edit - this may interest you http://212.53.73.128/cgi/forums/YaBB.cgi?board=roadcars (not your cup of tea but a nicely spec'd fiesta on the front page... with V5)
And - something else to consider, the additional sot of a) purchasing a car then b) modding it with new seats/harnesses/roll cage/fire extinguisher etc etc

Pug 205 GTi frankly....you can cut one wire to loose the rev limiter. They handle like nothing on earth, for a 1.6 they go very well...there are LOADS of places that undertand how they work, cages are cheap and you can still drive it with just 2 seats in it....and you might just find one half ready, cos the 205 Challenge is simply those....and lots of people got hlafway through making one, and gave up

ok these guys are REAL men...rally boys, not tarmac tarts going round the same bit of black over and over...but hey...you gotta learn I guess

A metro GTi for about £500 with the rest spent on goodies would be extremely potent, and cheap to run!
