    Insurance

Looking at 3pFT as it would not be worth comprehensive (any damage would just get writen off with little return). Cheapest quote £900 for comp.

    Ecar: £655 with £0 excess

Quinn direct: £670. My car is too old for the included breakdown cover.. 16 years. £135 excess. They have 100% refused to give me a better quote even though several things have changed like I will now be keeping it in a locked garage and a secure carpark at work, rather than on the road. In my opinion that vastly reduces any chance of it being stolen..

Post Office: £617, £150 excess. I would have to pay £970 then have ~200 refunded to match my quinn direct renual quote, then another £50 back within 2 months.
Their call center staff are probably the most annoying to speak to, with the first bloke I spoke to actually shouting down the phone at me with a lacking abily to speak english.

What car? If it's high performance, or tuned - try A-Plan Special Schemes Division - 08450 711234. Been fantastic with my 200sx and Skylines. Not quite as competitive with a normal car - they were not the cheapest for my Mazda 323 but i stuck with them because I have never had anything other than Excellent service.

Can I ask how old you are?

I might give a-plan a ring, cause ive seen a very good value 'barge' which I might be going to look at tomorrow and the AA are quoting stupid money!

I've done very well with Virgin. Cheapish premium after a bit of haggling and they let you pay monthly interest free!

I am getting ever closer to being an old fart @ 27 but I've been with A-Plan since about 24. Alot of peeps on the SXOC use them - infact thats where I found about about the best kept secret in car insurance

    Re: Insurance

I decided it wasnt worth the extra effort to get one of the cheaper policys and just renewed at £670...

It was a good £50 cheaper than all of the coomparason site quotes (other than ecar..)

And this year, as I DID bother to phone up and check prices... I have realised that the phone is useless.. noone will haggle and apart from the post office (who suck, I work for them..) noone is cheaper.

Note the reson why post office is cheaper... they employ so many bad immigrant drivers that they need their own insurance company.. so they need any normal drivers to balance it out...

I didnt bother to phone up any of the chav insurers... not sure my slow 150hp barge qualifys... although speaking to the policy shop.. who annoyingly keep phoning me (with very chavy call center staff), a turbo wouldnt cost me anything more...
