Skii....how easy is that stereo to use ...? I mean, in terms of Sony stuff normally it is second nature in seconds.....but that looks a tad short of buttons, which normally means "menu" and "option" lists....is it OK? Or it a case of 2 hours with a manual

How hard would it be for me to get my standard Audi head unit do you think?

Can't see any way of gettnig to it to even think about getting out and then I would need a black plate as the Audi stereo is about 50% longer than the standard size.

I know I have a 6 disc changer in the boot but I miss my mp3 head unit I used to have in my old car.

    Very easy actually m8

Source button - Tuner / CD
Graphic Equaliser Button - cycles through each one - I keep it on 'Xplod' which is LOUD ooooohhhh soooo LOUD
The buttons along the bottom are the Station presets, Traffic announcement, ATT (mute) and Display (Track name etc)]

The volume is on the extreme left and next track/prev is on the extreme right - dead simple.

Just trying to figure out how to stop it ejecting the CD every time I turn the ignition on ....

Apart from that very easy - I'm chuffed to buggery with it

    Trash

To be honest m8 I'm not sure about the procedure in removing the factory unit as my Dub came with the Kenwood Head Unit as opposed to the factory one, so they were easy to swap.

Best off asking somewhere like here

    Trash,

I'm guessing, but i'd say it's the two little slots at the bottom of the stereo front (under 4/5 and CPS/MODE buttons) but it may require a special tool. I got the one in my Fiat out by taking it to the dealer and asking at the parts counter, they got "one of the service lads" to pop it out for me ! No Charge.

As for the length, depends what the hole is like after it's removed as the cage should secure around the front of the hole. And if not, most stereos come with a metal stick that you can screw into the back making it about 2-3" longer.

    Always ejects on start up?

Gawd.....is it remembering everything else (time etc)or have you failed to get the Permanent live wired properly?

Also...it sounds like a wire for another utility is setting off the eject. Example: Corsa has a speed sensitive volume...sent a signal pulse that got more rapid as speed went up......slid new Philips unit in.....the Telephone Mute wire was aligned in that stereo to the Vauxhall one for speed pulse...

result......the music was fine stationary...and it started to cut out in "pulses" and got worse the faster ya went .....sounded like Jim Davidson at 80mph

So maybe you have an Ignition wire into summit you aint supposed to have it into....although I have NO IDEA why you would want a car to eject the CD at all, other than pushing the eject button

    Oooooh n00b alert

I've just had a think about it - its not remembering station presets either

    SO

It might be something to do with the internal lithium battery - do you have to remove the tab on them to activate the battery ...

I better chech the manual when I get home....

Usually it's just swap the red wire and yellow wire over, Sony afaik put bullet connectors on them for precisely this reason.

They are the permanent live and switched live wires - Check in the manual, I had to do this on mine - car manufacturers for some reason wire them the other way round.

When you connect the permanent feed +ve the unit ejects on Sony ones, noticed when i've disconnected my battery to reset the ECU, the MD pops out when you re-connect it.
