Once you have seen it you will never be the same
Life in the fast lane is just how it seems
Hard and it is heavy dirty and mean

Admittedly not a bargain but what the hell - I couldn't wait any longer.
Yeah - and I need to clean the car now

very nice Skii.. looks pretty lush...
and slightly off topic, what's your opinion on the Golf? yours is the GTi right? looking at the TDGTi model as a next car.. and looking for opinions other than the normal review sites..
Skii,
very nice, I like the slot CD players
Gonna be looking for one myself as my Sony's nearly given up (no radio at all).
Kaillum,
The Golf GTiTDi - I had this recommended to me for my next car by my mechanic due to my medium/high mileage..... nice specs.
One of the managers at my work has got one as a company car, by all accounts it's piggin quick, and looks wise it's not bad for a Golf, he's got the special edition one with 18" wheels, Recaro seats red calipers etc. etc.
Only criticisms (mine) are that it's a bit sheep in wolfs clothing, I know it's got 160bhp or whatever and it goes like stink, but it still sounds like a taxi when you start it up! Also wouldn't fancy paying for the £120+ each tyres out of my own pocket. I'll ask him about it next time I speak to him, or might even ask to borrow it - He He ! it is a company car after all.... and i'll let you know.
cheers squire... yeah.. lookin at a diesel for the next car due to my car giving up the ghost and for a cheaper alternative due to the amount of miles that will go on it...Originally posted by Barakka

currently in the running are the Golf GTiTDI or the 206 DTurbo... the 206 is a little slower, but also smaller for 'her' to drive... the Golf also seems a lot of money for not a lot of car...
I dunno.. think i'll just buy another 820 and leave her be in the little 106!!

I still have the option of a cassette, with changer in the boot. I listen to my 'The Goon Show' tapes that way! Got a Kenwood motorised face off. KDCR700 I think ...
Kallium
Mine is the V5 2.3 170Bhp,
the GTi (Red 'i') is a tiny tiny bit slower on paper but the difference is minimal, plus the V5 is a tad smoother and more refined being a normally aspirated lump as opposed to the GTi which is a 1.8 Turbo.
GTI's are more popular though, because you can easily chip them to over 200Bhp - veeeery quick
The diesels are reputedly good, the TDi being also very popular as its also very quick for an oil burner
I love the Golf Mk4s, they have piled on the pounds, but they are lovely looking, nice and quick, my only critisizm is that the handling is pretty bad - (some say 'boat like') but this can be easily improved by lowering and stiffer springs.
oh did I mention they look good ?
