Just wondering what people think of Redex - does it have any positive effect or is it just a placebo?

Personally you would be better off running the higher octane super unleaded for a bit and at a lower cost as its only a few pence more a litre, as its got more additives and cleans at the same time.
I used to use it.
It made a real difference in my unleaded car, as the lead replacement chemicals leave a waxy residue around the valves, that needs to be cleaned off every once in a while.
Can't say it made a difference in my diesel.
I won't ever buy fuel from a supermarket, even their high octane stuff.
None of my vehicles have run well on it.

Made a big difference with the poor fuel we found in parts of North West Africa.
In the UK, no difference at all.

Redex is proven to be nothing other than snake oil.
Give your car a proper Italian tune and it'll be fine.... ie thrash it a bit.
Don't get confused between Redex (a cleaner) and 'power boosters'.
Redex has had tests done by various people and results can be seen with it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=03nL8Z0dRkI
Power additives on the other hand....https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O2KNbbdQv3E

I do a fair amount of repeat mileage under very similar conditions, so my findings are pretty consistent, at least as far as my bikes have all been. Possibly worth noting that they've all been older than 15 years.
Either way, fuels from Tesco, Morrisons and many of the smaller ones like Texaco and Total, have all resulted in drastically poorer performances and MPGs.
Always had the best results from BP and Shell, with even better since I started using the fancy premium stuff.
YMMV, of course.
