    So then....

Afternoon all looking for a bit of direction on the replacement for my current daily drive.

I currently have a Mk3 Mondeo 2L TDDi which i have had since 2010, it is currently sat on just north of 115k and while there is nothing wrong with it so far (watch it now decide to implode on me ) it is starting to get very long in the tooth.

I have looked at lease hires but anything focus size and up is pushing over what i would be willing to pay each month on a lease, i looked at a lease hire on a fiesta and could do that for less than what the depreciation is but i would have to compromise too much.

The problem i have going with a modern dev based car is my daily drive is 6miles so dpf issue with catch me out quickly.
Public transport is a joke (esp when i have to be in work at 6am) and expensive at the side of the car, taxis are just shy of a tenner one way. Using the bike isn't really a option due to my currently poor fitness.

Do you have any suggestions for a car that is focus/mondeo size that

    a)doesn't cost 200+ for tax
b)has the ability to pull light trailer loads (750kg max)
    c)gets 30mpg avg or better

    Thoughts ?

    Re: So then....

If you have a small commute (6 miles) you need a car with a small engine, it'll warm up quicker. Hence, it'll last longer and keep u toasty in the winter.

    Re: So then....

I'm doing similar distance commute on a 1.25 petrol engine - no tax at all, achieving 45 mpg despite stop-start traffic, very happy so far.

Prices aren't too bad and the tax seems ok. Spec wise they are on par with what i currently have too.

    Re: So then....

Have you looked at Golfs/Audis? I've heard these can be cheaper than Fords for Lease Hire due to their higher resale value at the end of the contract...
