Thumbs up Wow what a day!

Today I had the privilege and once in a lifetime experience for doing some passenger laps (5, it seemed like a lot more!) in my mates Porsche Carrera Cup GT3 racecar!

I know the rules on swearing but (bleep) that thing is quick, it didn't feel that quick until he stood on the brakes for the first time at Brooklands and I felt like I wanted to become one with the windscreen! I also felt as a little nauseous just from the G-forces and having just munched a sandwich, by then end of my 5 laps was struggling to hold my head steady. How Scott managed 9, 5 lap stints with a 4-5 minute stop to change passenger I have no idea! Becketts was immense, the direction change was unbelievable.

Scott was the fastest thing on the track by a long way (it was an open pit lane trackday) there where a trio of Beechdean Astons (a GT3 and a couple of GT4's (oh and a Beechdean Hyundai i20 would you believe!), a few Ferrari 458's, GTR's, some Ginettas and a few Caterhams (at one point we thought a Caterham was putting in really quick laps until we realised there where 2 identical cars on track!( and Radicals. There where a couple of red flags including one of a road going GT86 that came back on a low-loader looking very bent (at least a foot shorter at the front-end ) I hope the driver was ok.

Unfortunately due to time issues the GoPro didn't make it into the car

The only downer for the day was that I think Scott has ruined any racing game for me forever! Nothing will ever come close!

I will pop some pics and a couple of videos up tomorrow evening, now I'm off for a hot shower and bed... I think my neck will be sore tomorrow, it was totally worth it though

Cool, I'll be watching out for the pictures.

Time issues with go-pro??? Sounds like you woke up late and rushed out then didn't realise you had left it at home till you got past the point of no return. Pack the night before in future lol.

Everything was packed the day before! Time issues where caused by the red flag for the GT86 hitting the barrier and the barrier having to be replaced, then an 45 minute rain shower, the GoPro was all ready to be bolted to the roll cage but got forgotten about in the rush.

Driving games are still fun games, you just won't see them as much of a simulation.

GoPros need to be very securely mounted or the scrutineers get rather animated. Suctions mounts aren't allowed, but sounds like you were impressed enough with the G forces even without being in an accident to see why

Sounded like a really good day, looking forward to any videos.

lol. Then it must mean that I'm the only one that would put down lack of preparation as 'time issues'.

It's great that you had a fantastic time on the day, I wish I could have been there too, I think I would have enjoyed just watching. Maybe one day I'll get the chance, I think you can buy a similar experience for less than £200.

Yeah, but that's because you were invited by your friend, unfortunately for me, I don't have any friends that happen to be race car drivers, so I'd have to fund the experience myself.
