    Car Insurance

Im wanting to change my car within a few months and come off my mums insurance. Current car is a Renault Clio 1.2 Dynamique which is insured under her name with me as a named driver (not illegal as she actually does more miles in it than me!) . I'll be getting a Clio 172 so i need a few insurance quotes and i dont want my mum taking advantage and using this all the time!
Im 21, been driving for 4 years and drive a company vehicle every day and ive asked my empoloyer to get the insurance company we use to write me a letter stating i haven't had any accidents in the past 4 years. He said he'll do that. I want to know WHICH insurance companies would take this letter as a no claims bonus as i need it to be able to insure myself on the 172.
    Thanks

Not 100% on this but if the car as never been insured in your name I can't see how they will give you any NCB, I maybe wrong though.

As for cheap insurance try Tescos, they have always saved me a few quid and let us know how you get on with the NCB situation.

I'd say the letter isn't worth the paper its wrote it.

I used to work for Royal & Sunalliance aka Morethan and they would never accept something such as a letter to give the policy holder NCB. You MAY get a 1 year introductory NCB. Other than that.... not much can be done. bear in mind if you have 3 or more years of driving experience you already get a 30% discount,

AFAIK its a letter from the insurance company we use for the company vehicles and that proves i haven't claimed since we've used them. I know someone has done this before and i know not all insurance companies accept it but there are quite a few that do. I just wasn't sure which ones.
    Thanks

There is at least one company out there who will accept company car no claims on a private car. I was talking to my boss about insurance this morning and he happened to mention it. Didn't get a name though... but they're out there!

Why not insure your car with the insurance company your company is with?

Then they know themselves that you havent claimed in X amount of years.....

Let us know how you get on!

I went to see the transport manager at work today and they use AXA insurance as a fleet of vehicles (i think). Anyway, he said he will liase with the insurance company and get me a letter written asap, he said he's done it before and got them 3years no claims but he cant remember which insurance company they used.
    Thanks

er, you should get a full 4 years transferrable NCB, if the letter states that you've had sole use of your own co. car...

and all insurance companies should give you 4yncb if you get that in writing

CIS will accept proof from a company that you have had 4 years of claim free company driving. I beleive NU will do this as well.

I'd say the letter would not count as no claims. For cheap insurance look at Tesco, CIS, Liverpool Victoria and Direct Line to name a few.... you could also ask norwich union to quote you happy.
