Question VW Golf Mark III Dashboard Conversion

I have a VW Golf Mark III Limited Edition, I am going to be doing some changes to it over the next while. One thing I want to do is change the colour of the light behing the dash board as it is green and red at the moment but would like to change it to blue and red (like the new VW's).

Can this be done? Are dash units sealed? Is it the simple case of changing a bulb? If so where can you get them?
I am sure you will all do me proud.

    Cheers guys (and gals)

    Tim

yeah I am looking at changing the lights behind the dash so that the speedo, rev counter and the likes will light up a different colour. I just dont want to go opening things up when I dont know what I am doing as i may...start going up the ol' creek with out a paddle!!!

Any Golf (Mk 3) owners or anyone else have any idea?

    Cheers,

    Tim

I've got a golf but this is something i havn't tried, it's pretty easy to get the clocks out and change the bulbs but i think they use a coloured filter rather that coloured bulbs.

Howard, thaks very much. There is a report on there about how to do it to a Clio so I am guessing that it wont be much different.

So anyway if anyone is looking to do this to their dash board then check this link out and give it a go...

I've changed the entire dash colour in my Handa Accord to blue as per the guide on this site: http://www.ledautomotive.com/ and using led's and resistors from www.farnell.com. It's a little more fiddly than just changing some bulbs on my car. For my dials I ordered some reverse indiglo dials from www.speedhut.com and used red bulbes behind. Green guages and orange needles became blue guages with bright red needles.

I changed a few other ones too...

    Imboliser light now flashes blue...

and Renaults have a RAID system....... anti hijacking system, so i changed the LED in that so it glows blue instead of red.

Craig those dials look awesome... I wanna know how the hell to do it though

Do you just take the dash apart, look at the bulbs used to illuminate it, and order some from UltraLEDs with the same connector? That looks fantastic. Mine would look so much better blue instead of green

So do those footwell CCFLs... I've got loads of PC ones spare.. Are they suitable? How do you wire them?
