    Insurance Quotes

I'll soon be a new driver (should I pass my test) atm i'm 19 (20 in September) but I for the life of me can't understand why I'm getting such abominable quotes on 1000cc Corsa's.

£2000-2300 from the following: Tesco, NUD
    £3000 from Liverpool Victoria

The cheapest I've found are Endsleigh at £1372 and even then I think thats too high, are online quotes always this crazy? Would I be better off getting a quote over the phone?

Tbh, I find £800-1000 more acceptable, but then again it probably won't happen anytime soon.

Are old cars cheap nowdays? I had a 15 year old avenger 1.6 and the insurance was less than half that of my mates 1.1 escort.

But why do these 17/18 Year olds get quotes of £1200 on 1.25 Fiesta's?

If I added my dad as a named driver would it cut the costs?

The cars i'm getting quotes on are R-W reg 1.0 Corsa's

Ad your mum as a named driver and that may help.

    It reduced mine by £30

TPFT is all my requirements are.

I was looking at brand new Corsa's with 1 years insurance but I don't think the garage will be happy being faced with a £2500 insurance bill

Tupac i think the free insurance is for drivers aged 21 and over....or so i hav been told.

Either way Norwich union quoted me £2000 for a VW Polo 1.4, but they said they wud insure me for £1000 if i completed the pass plus, so i would advise you do the same.

Just so you know: im also 19 and had licence for less than a year (4 days to be precise)

Tbh if insurance is costing you 1.5-2k at best its a good idea to buy a new corsa. The cash saved on insurance should nicely compensate for depriciation. You just need to decide whether you want a nicer 1.4 which you'll then have to either sell in a year or shell out a lot to insure, or a 1.0 which you can keep for more as the 2nd years insurance should be more bearable. Probably best to do pass plus too. But before you do it might want to call and try get quotes over phone. I found some cheap prices over net but in the end endsleigh still beat them over phone. Its either that or lose a sale. Always good if you can get two companies to compete for your custom. Although as a brand new driver they are hardly going to fall over themselves to have you.

Best insurance quite I had on my latest motor was £3500 TPFF, shopped aroud and got it down to £600 FC..... madness.

My first non-runaround car was 125bhp when I was 18, CIS wanted £1500 TPFF so it ended up insured as a family car for a more reasonable £500 Fully Comp

Best free broker I found is www.confused.com
