Just spend some of the queens finest....

    ..... on this!

Apex Performance Twin box stainless steel cat back. 3" all the way down, and 5" slash cut tailpipe.

Should make the car look and sound a whole lot better and that finalises my engine breathing mods needed for 300bhp

Also got a nice front strut brace coming too.

Ill take photos and videos when i get it all fitted

Ooh well ive just spent this evening getting the horrid rusty old one off and putting the sexy new one on. Mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm.

Its a beast, its a burbling waaaaarping noisefest of yummyness, poping and banging and twittering and psssshting like colin mcrae

I just hope i dont get sacked for disturbing lessons whenever i start my car. Ive got the silencing bung in at the mo, and its still louder than i wasnted. Ill tkae the bung out on the weekend and see what it really sounds like

Its faster too. I thought it pulled like a train before, but it pulls like a ... er... faster train now!

Jesus. Ive never been in anything so fast before, i did a bit of a 0-60, got a **** launch spun up in 1st, changed to second, and whoooom theres 60

    /me is happy happy.

    /me is joy joy.

/me just needs some nice 17x9 wheels now :|

I already specified the xaust on the policy when i took it out last month, just had to buy the xaust, and it was about £125 extra per year for induction and exhaust mods, mind you im 25 in sept should get a bit better then.

Am 25 in september too. If i finish my PhD on time and get a job I want to get me a Vtec Prelude. I thought about SX, but with amount of rain here, relative lack of experience and my parents possibly using my car (not if i get a job far away mind) - meaning my mum, who dont lift off for wheelsping - a rwd sportscar is not something i want to risk yet. I think i'll stick with standard spec to start off though (might be hard to find mind).

To be honest, for a 200sx in the rain, all you need to do is spend £500 on traction control with launch control, and youve got a well behaved car. Lighting up the rear tyres is the danger, traction control stops that if you want it to, you can set the % tyre slip your comfortable with. 0% for your parents, 25% for the daily drive, 50% for weekends, 100% for track

Well after driving this for a couple of days now all i can say is wow

Aside from the performance difference, which is noticable, its just turned the car from a subtle, understated, but fast motor, into fire breathing bang popping WRC colin mcraes evil flame spitting nightmare car

I have to admit, its gone too far the other way now, it was too quiet before with its pathetic twin pea shooter, but now its too loud, the burble on tickover is nice, but the rest, well its just raucas. At full chat it sounds crazy - and then theres evert time i change gear. BANG POP FLAME. Like wtf? Never got so much as a "bup" with the old xaust and now it sounds......crazy

Its a bit too much for me, i wanted a nice subdued growl, not too loud and ive got the oppisite - AND THIS IS APPARENTLY ONE OF THE QUIETEST JAP XAUSTS!!!s

I am considering buying the "3rd silencer box de-cat pipe" that they do just to see if that quietens it down a bit, but its £90 i think and ive spent enough already for this month.

Should be able to get some video footage on the weekend. Be scared peeps.

Im sure im gonna get pulled over by some smarmy cop sooner or later and asked if i am colin mcraes son or something "bit late for the rally of great britain sir isnt that usually in november?"

A decat will only make it louder, so don't decat it if you want quiet!

So you have a car that does more than it says on the tin and shouts about it occasionally. Not really a bad thing, just a touch embarrasing? Hopefully it doesn't drone too badly at motorway speeds.
It'll teach ya greater throttle control round town I guess!

    Moby and suggestions?

The Apex system isn't too bad - it really only screams when you nail it , the same as the mongoose.

I hear they have a low "tone" which makes them sound a bit rumblier than others , but the db sound level isn't too much different.

I had to drive the 200 to bedford this week with 1/2 an exhaust ( one of the clamps gave up so the backbox was put in the boot......the car sounded like a monster truck

No, its not monster monster loud, its just quite loud i suppose. Moby probably would think its quiet, but its loud for me. Its not too bad on the motorway really, you can hear it, but it doesnt give you headache or make you sick or anything. If your crusing at 70 it can be quite quiet, but if you give some beans god starts shouting again

It is already decatted, an the decat gives the 75% of the improvement as it also makes the turbo spool alot faster so get more lower down torque. The decat is staying.

As for throttle control round town, i havent really found any correlation between the throttle and the bangs and pops yet sometimes it bangs after taking it to the redline and changing gear, sometimes it doesnt, sometimes it bangs after accelerating from 2000-3000 rpm at 75% throttle, sometimes it doesnt. It only seems to do really loud bangs occasionally, and at random, usually when i dont want it to, like when theres a police car parked up in a layby, or a bunch of chavs on a street corner, or just as i am pulling up into school at 8 in the morning

Once i work out the relationship between the throttle and rally pops, ill be sure to keep her quiet when i need to

Pops and bangs are oddly enough due to the mixture being lean. Lean mixtures promote higher EGTs, which in turn means any fuel vapours are more likely to be ignited. Also if you've been cruising at speed for a while and the exhaust is nice and hot, expect to get some pops and bangs when coming off the throttle. You'll get used to it, it's perfectly normal with a car with a performance exhaust.
