Actually, they are - Most ask if you own, are named on, or have access to another vehicle.
My point was that I had a no-fault accident and claim on record from before I had a car licence... how is it a claim sufficiently valid to be ruled non-fault if I didn't have a licence and would therefore be unable to get insurance in the first place? Motorcycle? HGV? Tractor? Any other form of transport?
Nope - The only explanation their computers would allow for is if I'd been driving unlicenced. With that level of ignorance regarding other road vehicles, you'd think I was driving a BMW!!
I tend to look out of rather than into...
Not regarding the drivers, it's not... I promise you that!!

Skoda's are just VWs, along with Audi and Seat. The underlying platform is shared, and all the bits that you don't want breaking are from the shared parts bin.
Bodies and interiors are customised and tweaked towards the target audience. You'll find more leathers and premium quality products in an Audi, and more fabrics in a Skoda. I'd say that you get more bundled in an Audi, but it seems that everything on Audi is optional these days.
Skoda used to be a great choice for latest tech, as VW didn't want to trial it out on their main brand, but I'm not sure that's the case any more.

I was going to post a lengthy reply as I will be replacing my car soon but I will make a new thread rather than hijack the OP.

I do...
Not quite... but Škoda will never fully escape their reputation.
That 'theoretically' means they get decent parts in massive bulk for less money and so don't cost as much to replace... It also means there are lots of parts available, so second-hand pricing is competitive.
Say, £9 for a £55 window regulator.
That's what the Laurin & Klement trim is for...
ALL the 'optional' extras come as standard on an L&K.
I have nearly set my sights on a 2 ltr diesel Laurin & Klement Superb. Which is why I keep asking
I was under the impression this was a good car for the money.

"In a perfect world... spammers would get caught, go to jail, and share a cell with many men who have enlarged their penises, taken Viagra and are looking for a new relationship."
I started driving a few years ago.
First insurance was 3rd party with 1st central for £950 for a 2002 Focus
Second insurance was 3rd party with GoSkippy for £620 still for my vintage car
Third insurance is currently Comprehensive with GoSkippy for £600 for a 2008 Focus
TBH I think they have escaped their old reputation. If anything, I think the brand is held back by the value market that the VAG group aim the cars at. Not that they are actually that cheap any more. I did have a look at Skodas before making my last purchase, but I'm not a fan of the look of VW cars at the best of times, and of all the cars in the group I find the Skodas most challenging. That and I keep seeing VAG group cars broken down (today it was a SEAT).
There aren't many advantages to getting older, but cheaper car insurance is one of them.
I believe it is.
Among those that know their cars, perhaps... but the majority of drivers still just get in their box and press the GO button, turn on the radio and mindlessly drift through traffic.
To them, it is still a Škoda.
I keep seeing Fords and BMWs, both on the road and coming in for fixing.
Mostly, it's just the owners refusing to look after them in the first place.
I always like to trot out this quote I had on these types of threads:
well it gets better. (or not) Tonight the brakes failed. Luckily I was only trying to move it a foot on the drive to open the garage door. Off it went. Footbrake to the floor and it might as well have been bambi on ice. Had to use the handbrake to stop the thing. Luckily the drive slopes away from the house, otherwise that could have been rather messy.
Not even had it a week. Dread to think what this will do to my breakdown insurance premium next year! Glad I took out breakdown cover that includes at home. Repair garage for me in the morning.
At least it was on your drive and not when you needed to do an emergency stop...
