Unless they're gonna buy me a car outright, to replace my diesel, they're doing nothing but wasting their time and breaking sticks.
I'm more concerned that modern cars look utterly hideous...!

I remember hearing that the many cities will block diesels completely by 2020. I do recommend looking around that youtube channel they do alot of awesome content and the hosts are both over 6ft. Don't let range anxiety get to you, unless you're buying a first gen nissan leaf(long charge times), you should be fine. The charging times in these cars have improved massively and the degradation on the battery is extremely slow. MUUUUCH better than phone batteries. http://insideevs.com/nissan-leaf-tax...-battery-bars/
That is a LONGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGG way off regarding banning diesel cars by 2020.
There is no way that target is going to be met. Not with the likes of Trump/May at the helm.
I highly recommend Golf GTD

Resale value of vehicles that are banned? They'll plummet. If you have something desirable then then might be different as they'll become rare, but your every day car will only be worth it's weight in metal.
I would hope if they are on finance they will be modern enough to be fine.
I expect many towns will go the way of the London Ultra Low Emission zone in 2020 where my three year old petrol car will be quite welcome there. Heck, my wife's 12 year old 3.2l V6 is Euro 4 petrol so counts as green :D For Diesel, Euro 6 has been around since 2014 so I would expect cars you lease now to be compliant with that.

Thought I'd through my 2 cents in here... because I love me the BMW i3 :D
So yeah, I got myself a quote that I'm sitting on until 2018. Likely to make the purchase at £350pm with £3000 deposit for the range extended version.
Why!? Well, I test drove a M140i and the i3... similar monthly cost and range for a tank of petrol. The i3 was both more comfortable to drive and more enjoyable. No question about it, much better vehicle for the price.
The current diesel/petrol debate is very interesting. As usual from this government - solid details are non-existent.
However, if they don't want the car market to slow down (and cause manufacturing to fall even further) then maybe they will release more details so we have some level of certainty. Although, using the Tories and certainty in the same sentence is akin to shooting oneself in the foot.
I thought they had: No new ICE cars after the year 2040.
That's far enough away in politics I think you can ignore it. Me, I don't like driving diesel cars, I don't like the smell of derv on my hands all day because I had to fill up on the way to work in the morning and the garage didn't have those disposable gloves. But still, if I had a long steady speed drive commute I would have bought a diesel because it would have saved me money.
Well guys, getting this car in the next week. Details:
Skoda Superb Diesel Hatchback 2.0 TDI CR LAURIN & KLEMENT 5DR DSG
Currently looking at about £20k for a 66 plate with 8k miles. What do you guys think?
Also, any feedback on Motorpoint?
Thanks
Just a small bump guys.
I see motorpoint charge a "£99 admin fee". Sales guys said it covers "HPI check (which their website already says is done anyway), "service (if one due)" - again, the car comes with teh remaining 24 months manufacturuer warranty - so not doing a service when due (car is 12 months old this month) would void that so i'd imagine they do it regardless.
Then, on the bottom of their website it says:
" A Pre-Delivery Fee of £99 (optional) includes HPI Certificate, PDI, Service (if required) and valet."
So it's optional? The guy on the phone never said that. Anyone else got any experience with Motorpoint?
They are still cheaper than the alternatives around me. But if a £99 fee is optional on their website then I expect to be able to remove it when I got a view the car. Likewise, if a service is due this month, I expect them to do it or deduct service price?
Well, I got my new car yesterday and I am very happy with it. Motorpoint were actually pretty good. No hard sales for other products etc. The pre-delivery fee: I asked for it to be removed and they did it with no questions.
The car is on a variable service plan so technically doesn't need to be serviced for ages but I have booked it into Skoda anyway. Gets the software updates etc checked and an inspection of the car.
