    Re: Another New Car Thread!

I'm amused by the number of cameras.

Not only is there a fairly standard rear view, but it also has cameras in each side mirror, which it uses to create an 'overhead view'. Then there are cameras in each side of the front bumper to help with pulling out of places with poor visibility, and, of course, a forward facing camera for lane departure warning and road sign recognition.

Then I added a dash cam.

0-60 in 4.3 seconds with Launch Control and 12.9 1/4-mile.

    Re: Another New Car Thread!

Surely with all those cameras modern cars ought to have an aircraft-style black box? Doesn't need to be net-enabled, just save a few hours of recent footage somewhere in the car (and cross-reference to the sensors controlling airbag activation to spot accidents). You can also link it with the other on-board systems, so for example if the car checks for continuity across the brake lights (like my old rover does) then you'll have proof that your brake lights were working when you got rear-ended (or whatever the accident may be).
