You mean from the outside? Because the actual collector is not visible since its hidden down the piping.
Look down the overpipe end, make sure the ‘cross’ is even and not bent :)
Good point. I think I may have fallen foul of fake news. Ignore me ;)
On a side note, I bought this the other day.

Milktek overpipe arrives shortly and I need to get some wrap and gaskets. Then it's a case of finding a tuner. :)
Incidentally, this is what the offending part looking like new:

It's degraded remarkably quickly.
Did you heat wrap it at all?
Largely not, it had a heatshield blanket thing on the top, but that fell apart so mostly it's been unshielded.
Ah, sometimes wrap can actually make it worse since it holds the damp (when not in use clearly). I'm looking in to what heatshield to go for myself at the moment.
I have some self-adhesive heatshield for the sump and intake that I'm going to fit, and a bit of wrap for the upper loop of the new manifold (it passes close to the intake resonator and can melt it). Other than that, I'm leaving it bare.
The best solution is to have it ceramic coated, but that's expensive.
In typical fashion in halfway through changing it and found I don't have a deep enough socket for the bolts. Just had to do an emergency Halfords run. :p
Doh! Remap time now?
Turns out it was a lot worse than I thought.

However, the new manifold is on, looking much tidier.

Lowe, already have a remap, I'm hoping I can get away without another one.
that looks like there may have been done mechanical abrasion going on there with that old coupling.
There's not really anything to abrade it there though. Strange.
Had my remap and manifold changed the other day. What a difference! Loving the burble too, even if it's a smidge on the loud side...
