BMW have today said that they might need to swap some engine production out of England (Hams Hall) and take production to Austria, because EU made cars need a certain % of EU made components to be counted as EU product in the deals they have with the rest of the world.

Because the UK still hasn't nailed the BREXIT issue, they don't want to risk MINI engines counting as Non EU componenets beyond the varying % requirements that their Global Deals count on as EU products.
This is one of those "2nd stage deeper" issues that are hard to report on because its a a tad more complex than the basics
It's not simply that the car's not EU made for the EU.
Its the car might not have a high enough EU component content to be sold from within the EU deal to other nations outside the EU.
April will still see the Oxford MINI factory close for their annual factory refit, because that was planned back in Sept last year (most factories close in Summer to retool and fix stuff, change chassis years etc), - it was a wise decision.
